Holidays, and getting back to work…

3 Jan

Happy New Year, everyone!

Yes, the holidays are over, and everyone goes back to work tomorrow. First there was Hannukah, then Christmas, and then the New Years. Yes, here at our house, we celebrate all of the above because we have Jews and Christians and holiday-lovers! Really, who doesn’t love a good holiday time of the year? This year, my brother also visited from Singapore, which explained going shopping on Boxing day instead of staying home like the usual lazy and un-shopperly days we like just hiding from the world.

Next up… Chinese New Year, and if I’m not wrong, that is about three weeks away. Its a little sad that I won’t be in Singapore for Chinese New Year. I was hopeful that after so many years being away from home for the new year, that this year I would be able to spend new years at home, since this year’s lunar new year is considered ‘early’. Unfortunately, it is still not early enough and coincides with school. I really want to be back for the new year. It’s perhaps the only festival that I miss.

Anyway, its back to work tomorrow. I have about half of my piece for Lunar done. Most of it is all sketched out and it is really all about getting things down on paper and making ideas work. Ah, it sounds so easy when I type it out in words, but it really isn’t in reality. Its not like I write out some things, press loadbang and let the programs tell me whether something works or not.

Ticktock. 9 days to detonation.

all cool composers have a blog…

28 Dec

I have realized that all the cool composers have a blog and decided to jump on the bandwagon like a wannabe in high school. This also explains my Twitter account, InstantEncore account, BandCamp, SoundCloud, MySpace (no longer as cool) accounts and whatever-have-you ‘new’ social media outlets that have caught on to the professional world.

I am by no means new to blogging, or pouring my hearts out to blogosphere. I had my first blog [pinkified.blogspot.com] for ten years whose web url had become usurped by another unknown pinkie. It had thousands and thousands of posts, thanks to teenage angst and hormonal fluctuations, but I had since deleted it all, and I don’t remember much about it other than that it had quite a following (a few hundred daily followers) back in its day.

After that first blog, I had a couple others that didin’t quite catch on with myself. I had a blog for my American adventures when I first came over in 2007, and then another one in 2007 to keep my folks up-to-date with life away from home. Both kinda dwindled and died eventually. Jas and I had a blog for when we visited Singapore in the summer of 2011, and now I keep a pretty consistent food and travel blog [emylogues.blogspot.com] that has absolutely zero following other than my mom, but I am fine with that.
